Going Ryzen!
I picked up a new processor and motherboard for the NAS server. The Ryzen 3600 threads to TDP ratio is fantastic and is an easy upgrade choice to replace the ageing AMD 8350 already in the server.
New RAM
Newegg was having a sale for the https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232418?Item=N82E16820232418 so I picked it up for 109$.
New HBA's on its way
I decided to replace the two I/O Crest 4 Port SATA III PCI-e 2.0 x1 with two LSI SAS9201-8i controllers for the NAS server.
I/O Crest Controller Card
More drives into the array!
I picked up two WD - easystore 8TB external drives from best buy when they were on sale for $129.99 each. Both drives were shucked and installed into the NAS without issues.
Backup Computer Mouse
I purchased Logitech G600 mouse when it was on sale for 25$. I already own and use a Logistic G600 for my workstation and have been quite pleased with it so I bought this one as a backup.
New Power Supply
Amazon was having a sale for the CORSAIR RMi Series, RM1000i, 1000 Watt, 80+ Gold Certified, Fully Modular - Digital Power Supply so I picked it up for 127$.
Ludum Dare 44 Final Round Vote
I have missed the previous three rounds of voting due to having to attend a work conference. Here was my topic recommendations. Overall most of the topics are quite useable and I have a feeling it is going to be a good event. At the moment my favorite topic would be 'Change the genre of a classic video game'. I am undecided about the topic 'Side Effects' and will have to come back to it later.
Udemy PHP Security
It was a short simple course taught by Edwin Diaz for twelve dollars. I took the course just as a refresher since security is always changing. Overall it had limited helpfulness since I already knew most of the course work. The course topics follow this flow: build a vulnerable webpage, break the page, secure the page. It is a nice format since students can 'see' the problem however the course doesn't go deeper than that.
Ludum Dare Wallpaper
Leon Möhring had made an awesome wallpaper however it was specific to Ludum Dare 37.
I modified the wallpaper so it would no longer be unique to Ludum Dare 37.
And here is a picture of the wallpaper in use for Ludum Dare 44.

Ludum Dare 44 Theme Slaughter
Today I logged into Ludum Dare to check out where we are at with theme voting and found out Ludum Dare 44 Theme Slaughter has started. Here is a brief view of my first ten selections and my thoughts on each of them.
1) Combination ✓
Thoughts:
Combination is a nice topic since it is so vague. Instantly puzzle games pop into my head but there is so much to play here anything really works even games like Sim Earth. I voted yes since it is easy to work with both mechanically and esthetically.

2) Condescending white knight prick causes you to quit LD forever. 🏴
Thoughts:
O WOW, there must be a story behind this but is too big of a spicy meatball for me. Obviously, I flagged this one.

NAS Server Hard Drive Upgrades
Hardware Parts:
Software Installation:
The two(Western Digital) hard drives were precleared and added to the UnRAID volume. The Hitachi drive is quite old and so it is too risky to add to the volume. The Hitachi hard drive was precleared and setup as an unassigned device. The plan is to use this drive as a buffer for downloads. At the moment, downloads are loaded onto the volume causing at least two drives to be spun up at any given time (The parity drive and the drive containing the data). If the Hitachi drive fails only the unsorted downloads would be lost and that isn't a big deal.

- 4 TB Western Digital WD40EZRZ Hard Drive
- 3TB Western Digital WD30EZRX Hard Drive
- 1TB HitachiHDE721010SLA330 Hard Drive
- 4pcs/Set SATACable
Hardware Installation:
The hardware installation went smoothly. The case had basic maintenance performed such as cleaning the fan filters and removing dust. The new drives and the existing hard drive were removed and reseated into their caddies. USB front headers and audio ports were removed since they are not being used. Cables are now routed through the case to hide extra length.Software Installation:
